About Me
Hello, I'm Jason O'Callaghan.
Member of the Psychology Society of Ireland
M.Ps.S.I. (Membership No M13886)
My name is Jason O’Callaghan, and I’ve spent more than a decade helping people change their lives through psychology and clinical hypnotherapy. My journey into this field began with a deep interest in how the mind works, which led me to complete both my BA (Hons) in Psychology and my Masters degree in Applied Psychology at Trinity College Dublin.
During my Masters, I developed a stress-reduction programme for cancer patients, earning a place on the Trinity College Roll of Honour. That experience shaped much of my clinical approach today and strengthened my belief in practical, evidence-based methods that genuinely improve wellbeing.
Over the years, I’ve expanded my training with qualifications in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), counselling, mindfulness and clinical hypnotherapy. I later trained in the United States as a Certified Instructor with the National Guild of Hypnotists, placing me among a very small number of hypnotherapists in Ireland with this level of accreditation. My research in clinical hypnotherapy has since been published by the Mayo Clinic, the top-ranked hospital in the world.
My love for hypnotherapy extends far beyond the clinic. I am also recognised as Ireland’s leading event stage hypnotist, performing nationwide for couples, corporate events and major venues. This work has shown me the incredible range of human behaviour and the power of the mind in completely different settings—insight that I bring back into my clinical work every day.
Before founding The D4 Clinic, I spent ten years as a journalist with The Sunday Independent, interviewing world leaders, public figures and high-profile personalities. Those years taught me how to understand people quickly and communicate clearly—skills that now help me support clients with clarity and confidence.
Today, my work brings together psychology, CBT, mindfulness, counselling and clinical hypnotherapy to help people manage anxiety, break unwanted habits, build confidence and make lasting change. Every client is unique, and my approach is always personalised and grounded in evidence-based practice.
Outside of work, I live in Blackrock, Co. Dublin with my wife, our three children and our two dogs. Family life keeps me grounded and reminds me why supporting people to feel calmer, happier and more in control matters so much.
If you’re ready to take the next step, I’m here to help you move forward with confidence.
