STOP SMOKING HYPNOTHERAPY

Frequently asked questions

Hypnotherapy is a therapeutic approach that uses a natural, focused state of attention to help you make positive changes in how you think, feel and behave. In that relaxed state, your mind becomes more open to helpful suggestions, new perspectives and healthier patterns. At The D4 Clinic I combine clinical hypnotherapy with psychology, CBT, counselling and mindfulness so the work is grounded in evidence and tailored to your needs.

No. You are always in control. Hypnosis is not mind control and it is nothing like what you see in TV or stage shows. You will hear everything I say and you can accept or reject any suggestion at any time. If something does not feel right for you, your mind simply will not take it on. My job is to guide, not to control.

In my experience, the vast majority of people can be hypnotised, because hypnosis is simply a natural state of focused relaxation. You experience similar states when you daydream or get lost in a book or film. You do not need to be highly suggestible. You just need to be willing to follow the process, listen and allow yourself to relax.

I work with clients on anxiety, stress, low confidence, sleep issues, performance, weight management, smoking, vaping, unwanted habits and many other everyday challenges. Hypnotherapy can also be useful for people who want to feel calmer, more motivated or more in control of their thoughts and emotions. If you are unsure whether I can help with your specific issue, you can contact The D4 Clinic and we can discuss it.

In a one to one session, we start by talking about what you want to change and what has been happening for you. I will explain how hypnotherapy works, answer any questions and make sure you feel comfortable. Then I guide you into a relaxed, focused state using words and imagery, and we work on the specific goals you have. You remain aware, you can speak if needed, and you come out of hypnosis feeling calm and clear.

This varies from person to person. Some people notice meaningful changes after just one or two sessions. Others benefit from a short programme of sessions to work through deeper or long standing issues. Statistics have shown a 93% success rate after 6 sessions.

Yes, hypnotherapy is considered safe for most people when carried out by a properly trained professional. You are simply in a relaxed, focused state, not unconscious or out of control. I am a psychologist with a Masters degree in Applied Psychology from Trinity College Dublin, and I use evidence based methods throughout my work. Hypnotherapy is not a replacement for medical care, so if I feel you need input from your GP or another specialist, I will always say so.

On stage, hypnosis is used for entertainment. People volunteer, they know it is a show. In clinic, my focus is on your wellbeing, not performance. I use clinical hypnotherapy to help you reduce anxiety, change habits, build confidence and improve your quality of life. While I am also known as one of Ireland’s leading wedding and stage hypnotists, what I do at The D4 Clinic is completely confidential, respectful and therapy focused.

Yes, in many cases online hypnotherapy can be just as effective, and sometimes even more so. When you are at home in a familiar environment, it can be easier for your mind and body to relax. As long as you have a quiet space, a good internet connection and are not disturbed, online sessions can work extremely well. I work with clients across Ireland and abroad using secure video calls.

VIP intensive sessions are designed for clients who want a deeper, more focused experience over a shorter period of time. This might suit you if you are travelling from abroad, have a tight schedule or simply prefer to work intensively on a specific issue. A VIP package usually includes longer sessions, more contact and additional resources to support you between sessions. If you feel you need a high level of support and attention, VIP may be a good option.

My downloadable programmes are professionally recorded hypnotherapy sessions you can listen to in your own time, as often as you like. They are based on the same psychological principles and methods I use in clinic. Once you purchase a download, you receive the audio file directly to your device and can use it at home, before bed or whenever you have some quiet time. They are ideal if you want flexible, cost effective support or want to maintain progress between sessions.

No ethical hypnotherapist can guarantee results, because everyone is different. Your background, motivation, health, environment and many other factors play a role in how quickly you change. What I can guarantee is my professionalism, my clinical training and my commitment to giving you the best possible chance of success using evidence based methods. I will always be honest with you about what is realistic and what I believe hypnotherapy can and cannot do for you.
